Life Inside a Screen 2.0
In her ominous new single, “Life Inside a Screen 2.0”, Dyllen Nellis questions the techno-utopianism we’ve always envisioned. It’s been one year since this 19-year-old was sent home from college due to the pandemic, and she’s been pushing buttons on her laptop in her Los Angeles bedroom ever since. The song encapsulates her raw thoughts in isolation, where digital screens serve as her portal to the outside world. Through the juxtaposition of ukulele strums with electronic synths, her melodies paint a dreamscape that straddles the line between natural and artificial. Trapped in ambivalence, Dyllen invites listeners to decide for themselves: “Is technology a window or a cage?”
