The focus of my artwork is to capture a moment in time in which an ominous event is actively occurring. In each drawing, a unique narrative is created from the interaction between subjects and their environments. These elements are composed similarly with spatial depth and perspective. Rendered in moody, brown tones using colored pencils, the images provoke thoughts of what has happened and what is to come.
Body Forms Series
My artwork focuses on the sculptural forms created by the female body. Rendered from my own photography in acrylic on canvas, each painting represents an oddly positioned figure with an emphasis on its bones and crevices. The high key color schemes bring a contrasting vibrancy to the more reticent imagery. By excluding facial expressions from my work, I examine how the body itself can communicate sentiments of vulnerability and strength.
